The development of accelerator science
requires an in-depth knowledge of phenomena coming into play in
accelerator physics and technology. It requires also modeling,
simulation and development of many components and equipment.
A forefront R&D work is therefore naturally promoted at IPN Orsay
by the Accelerator Research Department in order to maintain and further
develop its level of expertise. Major part of these activities are
usually related to on-going projects in which the Accelerator Research
Department is involved. However, several upstream R&D topics are
also explored specifically in order to anticipate solutions to relevant
key technological issues (SRF cavities, targets & ion sources , cryogenics, RF & instrumentation) related to the development of future
accelerators.
Because today’s research is tomorrow solution !
