Missions AND ActivitIEs

The mission of the R&D cavités et cryogénie group is mainly to lead research and development activities required to design and built cryogenic ensembles dedicated to particle accelerators especially to superconducting linear accelerators. The main activities are :

• Design study of accelerating RF cavities
  
• Cryomodules conception
  
• Study of mechanical ancillaries at cryogenic temperatures
  
• Cryofluids management
  
• Materials behaviour at liquid helium temperature
  
• Study on superconducting materials for accelerating cavities
  

These activities are lead with other groups based on projects involving the accelerator division. R&D activities are lead especially on cold tuning systems for cavities, electrical and thermal properties of materials, processing effect on performances and optimization of superconducting properties of niobium and its alloys.
