Thales Electron Devices is involved in the design and manufacturing of RF Tubes for more than 60
years and is one of the global leader in this domain. With 8 production center implemented in France, Germany, Israel, china and United states we dispose of more than 100000 m² of industrial surfaces and 10 000 m² of clean rooms.

Thales has been a leading manufacturer of long-life tubes for many decades, and constantly develops new technologies to improve performance and enhance reliability. Thales Electron Devices products are used as RF and microwave power sources in a number of different systems.
The scope of application is very broad, including space, telecommunications, defence, radio and TV broadcasting, scientific research, medical therapy and industry.

Solid state department develop lot of applications for high RF power. Example, modules for VHF TV transmitters ( 1Kw to 50Kw , band 165MHz to 250MHz) and UHF TV transmitters ( 1KW to 25KW, band 470MHz to 870MHz) using the last LDMOS technology. High efficiency power has been put in place on the radio transmitter ( efficiency better 93%, output RF power 100KW to 4MW) using the class D and class E. Several patents illustrate the innovation for all these applications (WO2009033959 , WO2009016036, WO2008113668, EP1056200, US5465068, CA2099215, CA2103315, WO2008113667,….).

o in charge of medical accelerators for GEMS (General Electric Medical System
- 1996-2000 : Thomson Linac – technical director
o in charge of design, realisation of all accelerators for the entity
- since 2000 : THALES – in charge of systems and energy bunch for Thales in the Laser Megajoule project.

Bernard DARGES
Engineer graduated « Art & Metier » and Mater degree in physics of Blaise Pascal University (Clermont Ferrand). In 1980, he started at Michelin Company where he studied the mechanical wave phenomena on the tyre and developed mathematic models. During this period, he was speaker as a teacher in Power Electronics at the university Blaise Pascal. He has been joining THALES since 1990, he took care the development and the design of the high power amplifier solid state amplifier class D/E in the range OL-OM (300KW was the first worldwide). In 1995, he took care the development and designed the new generations solid state amplifiers for the analog and digital TV (470MHz to 870MHz / 10KW to 50Kw). Since 2002, he has been Taking care the solid state laboratory at THALES RFMS-T for the development of the high power solid state generators (industrial applications 100KHz to 2.45GHz, 1KW to 200KW). Several patents illustrate the innovation for all these applications (WO2009033959, WO2009016036, WO2008113668, EP1056200, US5465068, CA2099215, CA2103315, WO2008113667,….) developed by himself.
