The IGLEX was decided between the two laboratories, IPNO and LAL, within the framework of the valley plan in 2012. The aim was to create a multidisciplinary centre with the two EQUIPEX ANDROMEDE and THOMX teams carried by these two laboratories. This centre is located in building 209 (named Igloo) and the two adjacent halls (D1 and D2 at first).
The analysis of the needs (fluid, electrical power, cooling, radiological protection) as well as the drafting of the specifications for this project were carried out by a small team composed of E. Cottereau, Ph.D. Dambre and S. Della Negra for The IPNO and B. Pieyre and A. Variola for the LAL.
The project started in January 2016 under the supervision of a project management team consisting of S. Della Negra of IPNO and H. Monard and B. Pieyre of the LAL, accompanied by a works supervisor from CNRS DR1. The site was completed on January 31, 2017 with the final acceptance of the 11 technical lots, ranging from structural work to painting.
The installation of the equipment will begin with ThomX in mid-February and should end in early 2018 with Andromede.
