CERN contribution

In the frame of the extra contribution of France to CERN, IPN committed strongly in the construction of the LHC accelerator realizing 414 short straight sections and more than 7000 calibrating thermometers.

IPN was also involved in the superconducting Proton Linac a cryomodule studies. It is an R&D effort aiming at developing key technologies for the construction at CERN, of a multi-megawatt proton linac, based on state-of-the-art SRF technologies. It would serve as a driver for new physics facilities such as neutrino and radioactive ion beam facilities.

As part improving the brightness of the LHC, the IPN has supported the design studies of new cryostats constituting the four set of triplets located either side of ATLAS and CMS experiments.
