Other high power linacs activities

The IPHI injector

IPHI (Injecteur de Protons à Haute Intensité) is very high power proton injector demonstrator project, done in collaboration with CEA (IRFU/SACM). It is based on the use of an ECR (Electron Cyclotron Recsonance) ion source, SILHI, delivering a 100 mA proton beam at 95 keV. This beam will then be accelerated up to 3 MeV by a 350 MHz RFQ (Radio-Frequency Quadrupole) operating in CW RF mode (see picture here below). The SPL project @CERN

In the frame of the extra contribution of France to CERN, IPN is involved in the Superconducting Proton Linac cryomodule studies. It is an R&D effort aiming at developing key technologies for the construction at CERN, of a multi-megawatt proton linac, based on state-of-the-art SRF technologies. The EURISOL project

Le projet EURISOL prévoit de devenir une installation de production d’ions exotiques de nouvelle génération, avec des intensités plusieurs ordres de grandeur au-dessus des installations actuelles. Basée sur le concept ISOL (Isotope Separation On-Line), une telle installation pourrait permettre d’explorer la « terra incognita » de la carte des noyaux.
